GIUNGLA, aka Emanuela Drei, is an Italian musician, producer, and sound designer known for her unique blend of punk rock energy, pop sensibilities, and electronic experimentation.
Giungla, which means “jungle” in Italian, adopted her stage name in 2016, symbolizing the wild and untamed nature of her sound.
Starting her musical journey with the guitar, she played in several local bands during her teenage years, developing her raw and energetic style.
She’s played alongside The xx, Foals, Grimes, Franz Ferdinand and Battles – just to name a few – as well as being invited to play at numerous festivals across Europe and North America.
During her career, Ema has also collaborated with other artists, both in the studio and on tour as session guitarist and bassist.
In addition to her work as a musician, Ema is a sound designer, audio engineer, and music supervisor, specializing in music production and creative sound development for professional projects with brands.
She also hosts a regular show on Radio Raheem, Unguided Tour w/ GIUNGLA.
Her latest album “Distractions“, entirely self-produced, has been released on November 1st 2024 via Factory Flaws.
In the last few years, she has taken part, both as performer and tutor, in residencies creating site-specific soundscapes and composing original and experimental soundtracks for silent films and other archival material.
She is currently collaborating on various professional productions and projects, while developing her upcoming release.
